THE VENUE

The AAL Forum 2017 is taking place at the impressive Convento de São Francisco. Situated beside the Mondego River, this historical building is close to major hotels and services and easy to reach by public transport and on foot.

The perfect venue for lively, interactive discussion and debate, the venue also boasts a substantial exhibition space, where more than 40 cutting edge active ageing solutions will be on display and available to test.

HOW TO GET TO COIMBRA

From Porto: 121 km, travelling from the north.  
From Lisbon: 208 km, travelling from the south.

USING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION 

Travelling from Lisbon’s international airport

Once you arrive at Lisbon international airport you may choose the following methods to get to Coimbra: 

By train: You can take a taxi or the Lisbon Metro (opens at 06h30 and closes at 01h00) from the airport to the “Oriente” train station. The trip should take around 10 minutes, but for the taxi it may vary depending on traffic conditions. “Oriente” trains to Coimbra are frequent (your destination will be Coimbra-b station). You should choose one of the following type of trains: the IC, Inter Cidades, that makes a few stops in major cities before Coimbra or the AP, Alfa Pendular, faster and more comfortable than the first one. By bus: The easiest way is to take a taxi from the airport to the bus station (Terminal Rodoviário de Sete Rios). The trip should take around 30 minutes, but it may vary depending on the traffic conditions. Buses to Coimbra are frequent. When you get to Coimbra by train or bus, you can then take a taxi. 

Travelling From Porto’s international airport:

Once you arrive at Porto international airport you may choose among the following means of transportation to Coimbra: 

By train: You can take a taxi or the Metro to the Porto metro from the airport to the “Campanhã” train station. The trip should take around 30 minutes, but for the taxi it may vary depending on traffic conditions. Trains to Coimbra are frequent (your destination will be Coimbra-b station). You could choose the IC, Inter Cidades, that makes a few stops in major cities before Coimbra or the AP, Alpha Pendular, faster and more comfortable than the first one. By bus: The easy way is to take a taxi from the airport to the bus station (Garagem Atlântico – rede-expressos). The trip should take around 30 minutes, considering normal traffic flow conditions. When you get to Coimbra by train or bus, you can then take a taxi. 

Travelling by car 

If you prefer renting a car, the trip should take you about 1.5 hours from Porto and two hours from Lisbon.
